I guess, in retrospect, I did have a little class growing up. As a young tike, moms put me on to Guys and Dolls. Classic Sinatra and Brando. The mix foreshadows harlem nights. Gamblers with class, from the HOOD to the Haberdashery. So wet. If we had half that swagger we would all be doin 1000.
Luck be a lady, Luck be a lady tonight…. I cant even put words to it. Know the whole thing.
Love for the Herst on Nylon…. well not the college but the town…. I used to be on Harold so tough as a kid.
“Hey Faran–
Here’s a tag I spotted in the centre of my hometown, Amherst, MA, earlier this summer. I’m pretty excited about it because there’s nothing more inspirational than Harold’s purple crayon. I spent my childhood dreaming about having one of my own.
Unfortunately, the business on whose wall Harold appeared didn’t agree with me; the most recent time I walked by, the graffito was gone. Here’s to transient but electrifying street art.
Love,
Julia”
And here’s to graffiti from my home state of Massachusetts! If you have graffiti, or a Boston accent, send it to me at faran@nylonmag.com
As everyone says good night to a legend, I also say goodnight to the world… im off to sleep but if if was a 5th we could all be drunk…
Ebony mag circa 1985… I just stumbled across this.
You cant deny the swag and the style. Most ppl get caught in the military jackets and the white socks. I think that these shots are the most eye opening for me. The style is impecable. The curved spread colar with the skinni tie. The popped colar. I think its amazing how is marries the pastel colors with a tradiational satorial style. I might not have to get rid of my pastels…
Goodnight to MJ and Goodnight to tha World… never wake a sleeping Giant
This summer has been a great one. I have met some great people, built some lasting relationships and had my fun all the while. Exactly what I would want to do. Along with the daily grind, I have made my first foray into the non profit/altruistic sector. I had never really imagined myself as someone into that type of stuff. Sure, I like to help people here and there, but “non profit” makes me think of green peace, whale wars and people who dont shower. Sorry if you hate that, but its what I think of.
Working with BRUTE LABS has opened my eyes to a version of “non profit”, one of impeccable design and enviable web presence. It is with this opened mindedness that I share this video. To start, I have to credit Dontae, a fellow BRUTE, for sharing the link with me. Second, I have to admit that generally, im not much into religion, with spirituality aside, but this one hits the needle on the head. It has its shortcomings, to ask for 10 billion dollars without a specific call to action, or even the name Advent Conspiracy, I dunno, but as far as design aesthetic and execution they are def Lookin’ Good.
I was trying to look for some flannel ties n stopped by the RL site. I stumbled upon their Prep School back to school campaign. You gotta love the layering and just the idea of having cute ass little kids real well dressed…. a nice thing to wake up to…
Plus its great to see the embrace of the octamarooners…. killin the game
